His Dark Materials - Required Reading

His Dark Materials required reading in some Ohio public schools
At least one Ohio public school is making The Golden Compass required reading for 6th graders. Parents wanting to oppose The Golden Compass in public schools should arm themselves with as much information as possible about the trilogy, His Dark Materials, as well as the author, Philip Pullman. It is important to have a few explicit anti-Catholic statements in hand. I have prepared an index of some of the most offensive pages in the trilogy. It would be helpful to have the books in hand and the offensive passages hightlighted for the school officials to read during your meeting with them. Calmly mention to school officials that Pullman's books malign the Catholic Faith and that no student's religion, of any faith, should be subject to such demeaning treatment.
