Index of Anti-Catholic Passages in His Dark Materials
If you are meeting with school officials, then select a few
of the most offensive passages from the His Dark Materials
index below. Don't overwhelm the school officials with too
many passages, but do show them enough to convince them that
Pullman's atheism and anti-Catholicism are repeatedly and
explicit portrayed.
This list is not complete, but it will certainly convince any reasonable person that Pullman is indeed militantly atheistic and anti-Catholic.
Pages marked with an asterisk (*) indicate one of the more offensive pages. Pages marked with a double asterisk (**) are those pages of explicit, or extremely offensive, statements against Catholicism. As you can see from the list, the anti-Catholic elements in Pullman's trilogy grow stronger with each volume.
